Sky high gas doesn’t help GM’s Electric car sales

With fuel prices edging past the $4 per gallon mark in many states, one would think budget-conscious consumers would be making a beeline to GM’s new electric cars- they’re not.

After the federal government publically took over General Motors, many tree-hugging bureaucrats embraced the former gas-guzzling auto giant and designed the new environmentally friendly “Volt.”

However, the inception of General Motors electric car hasn’t caught fire with the American consumer. In fact there have only been 281 Volt’s sold this year. Some point to the $41,000 price tag as a big obstacle. While others say the lack of charging stations make the electric car too impractical for busy families.

Unfortunately the Obama Administration’s goal of having one million electric cars on the highways by 2015 is becoming a distant mirage.
